A riche and tasty soup that really fills you up when you been out hiking. Garam marsala is a spice mix from Northern India with varying composition, which can be found by the spices in most grocery stores.
Recipe is for 2 portions.
1 Yellow onion or roasted onion
1 clove of garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
1.5 cups red lentils
2 tbsp tomato paste or chili sauce
8 cups water
1 Vegetable stock cube
1 tbsp garam masala
Salt & pepper
Peel the onion and garlic, chop the onion and finely chop the garlic.
Fry onion and garlic in oil for a few minutes, then add a bit of the garam masala, the lentils and tomato paste and cook for another minute while stiring. Add water and the stock, let it boil for about 10 minutes with the lid on.
Finally season the stew with the rest of the garam masala, salt and pepper.
